Contract type: Temporary
Description
Within the context of the EU funded project INERA (Grant agreement no: 316309) “Research and Innovation Capacity Strengthening of ISSP-BAS in Multifunctional Nanostructures” (http://www.inera.org), the Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) is looking for a Postdoctoral fellow in the field of applied physics (laser-mater interaction).
ISSP is a leading Bulgarian research institute in the field of solid matter research and its applications into multifunctional nanostructures. The INERA is an important mean for ISSP to rapidly increase its human and technological capacities, to reinforce its local networks and to deepen its partnerships on a European scale. It will mainly consist in an upgrade of equipment, scientific mobility trainings in leading EU research centres, life-long trainings, partnership deepening and dissemination activities. The main expected project outcome for ISSP is to provide a new interdisciplinary view, to establish new links for common research and to encourage future synergies on national and international levels.
The work will be focused on research in the field of laser processing – nonlinear optics and nanotechnology and will require intense interactions with other experimental research groups. It will involve:
- laser assisted annealing of nanostructures;
- designing, implementing and validating hybrid process chains that integrate laser processing and other complementary technologies;
- characterisation and development of laser ablation technology and its interfaces with complementary micro fabrication technologies;
- analysis of parameters affecting process-material interactions, e.g. materials’ microstructure, removal rates, etc., in laser micro-machining;
The Postdoctoral position is limited to 15.07.2016.
An internationally competitive salary, dependent on experience, will be offered.
Requirements:
Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) in a field related to applied physics, laser physics, preferably with nonlinear optics. The candidates should have a proven track record of experimental research with ultra short laser pulses (sub-ps and fs). Programming skills (Labview, Matlab, etc) and expertise with experimental techniques would also be an asset.
Fluency in both written and spoken English is required.
