Contract type: Temporary
Description:
Within the context of the EU funded project INERA “Research and Innovation Capacity Strengthening of ISSP-BAS in Multifunctional Nanostructures” (http://www.inera.org), the Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) is looking for a Postdoctoral fellow in materials science (membrane filtration).
ISSP is a leading Bulgarian research institute in the field of solid matter research and its applications into multifunctional nanostructures. The INERA is an important means for ISSP to rapidly increase its human and technological capacities, to reinforce its local networks and to deepen its partnerships on a European scale. It will mainly consist in an upgrade of equipment, scientific mobility trainings in leading EU research centres, life-long trainings, partnership deepening and dissemination activities.
The work will be focused on new products and processes in a wide range of membrane filtration applications including industry aspects (separation by organic solvents, desalination, fuel cells applications, and the life- health industries). It will involve:
- the whole range of pressure driven membrane processes like reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, ultrafiltration, microfiltration and pervaporation, operation with aqueous systems or organic solvents;
- developing and conducting laboratory experiments in a team environment via strong collaboration with members and colleagues in a goal-driven development effort;
- identifying technology and product related know-how and intellectual property developed in the frame of the project;
- introducing ideas and results in effective technical presentations, preparing project reports, writing scientific papers and contributing to research proposals.
The Postdoctoral position is limited to 15.07.2016.
An internationally competitive salary, dependent on experience, will be offered.
Requirements:
Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, physics, or related discipline with emphasis on membrane technology.
Experience and in-depth knowledge with nanostructure preparation techniques, micro- and nanofabrication equipment is strongly desired. Experience in performing experimental basic and device-oriented research in materials sciences and other relevant fields is a plus.
Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
