Contract type: Temporary
Description
Within the context of the EU funded project INERA (Grant agreement no: 316309) “Research and Innovation Capacity Strengthening of ISSP-BAS in Multifunctional Nanostructures” (http://www.inera.org), the Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) is looking for a Research fellow in the field of materials science and/or semiconductor physics.
ISSP is a leading Bulgarian research institute in the field of solid matter research and its applications into multifunctional nanostructures. The INERA is an important mean for ISSP to rapidly increase its human and technological capacities, to reinforce its local networks and to deepen its partnerships on a European scale. It will mainly consist in an upgrade of equipment, scientific mobility trainings in leading EU research centres, life-long trainings, partnership deepening and dissemination activities.
Research for this position will involve:
- optical characterization of different types of thin films and materials (semiconductors, metals, dielectrics and organics);
- diagnostics of nanocomposites and nanostructured films and multilayers.
Research will be conducted on modern automatic ellipsometer operating at different angles of light incidence and in a wide spectral range covering wavelengths from near-ultraviolet to near-infrared. It is desirable that the applicant has experience working with large datasets and complex numerical models, and also to be familiar with other characterization techniques of films and materials such as IR and FTIR spectroscopy.
The position is limited to 15.07.2016.
An internationally competitive salary, dependent on experience, will be offered.
Requirements:
Candidates should have a master’s degree or equivalent in physics for working on current issues in the field of physics of semiconductor thin films and heterostructures as well as emerging programs in materials science.
Priority is given to candidates with at least 2 years professional experience in the field of materials science and/or semiconductor physics. Ability to work in a team is essential.
Good knowledge of English would be an advantage.
